WorkZone Bags Greenest Title for Charter Hall
Charter Hall’s WorkZone buildings can now claim the title of Perth’s ‘greenest’ office buildings, after gaining Australia’s most up-to-date and prestigious Five Star Green Star rating.
The campus-style buildings, located at 202 Pier Street, Perth, have become the first ‘as built’ office in Western Australia to achieve the coveted certification under the newest and most stringent version of the rating.
Developed by Charter Hall and built by Broad Construction Services, the $220 million project comprises of two seven level buildings totalling 28,000sq m of new office space. Features include high-performance glazing, grey water recycling, advanced T5 zoned lighting and state-of-the-art energy and building management systems.
Green Building Council of Australia chief executive Romilly Madew said that reaching the initial Five Star Green Star Design rating required a holistic approach to green building design, as well as innovation. “In taking the extra step with the Green Star ‘as built’ rating, Charter Hall has demonstrated that the sustainable design intentions were implemented during the construction process,” she said.
“What’s more, Charter Hall has proved that ‘Australian excellence’ in sustainable construction can be achieved in one of the world’s most isolated cities. We congratulate Charter Hall and the broader project team at WorkZone for its ongoing and outstanding commitment to sustainability.”
Charter Hall senior development manager Simon Hulett said WorkZone has set a new benchmark when it comes to sustainable
office space. “Developing a sustainable asset was a key focus from the outset of the project,” he said.
“The result is not only WA’s greenest and most sustainable office building, but also a highly efficient and inspiring workplace for our tenants that encourage collaboration and productivity.
